“And there’s Gaelic in the fiddle, like the Gaelic in the Glen…” -Getting Dark Again – Buddy MacDonald As Buddy so wonderfully wrote it in the now famous song, the language and traditions of the area are revealed in all things Cape Breton – our words, faces, personalities, way of life, and of course, our music. Said to be our own version of soul music, the melodies are distinct and played with a rich, flavourful and expressive manner, much like the words and expressions found in the language and song. Coming from an area so vibrant in this aspect, we treasure and appreciate this style, and though our day and age has and is constantly changing, we will always strive to evoke that same emotion in what we do and be grateful for the opportunity.
